Our Curriculum at Serene Steps
At Serene Steps, our curriculum is guided by the EYFS framework and enriched with a gentle Islamic ethos. Our approach to teaching and learning is shaped by the following principles:
At Serene Steps, we are committed to creating a nurturing, inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued, and inspired to learn.
We believe in the importance of strong, trusting relationships. Each child is supported by a dedicated Key Person who takes time to understand their individual needs, building a secure foundation that allows them to grow in confidence and independence.
Play sits at the heart of everything we do. Through a balance of child-led exploration and thoughtful adult guidance, we create meaningful learning experiences that support children’s development across all areas of the EYFS. We encourage curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning through open-ended, hands-on activities.
Our Islamic ethos is woven naturally into everyday practice. Through simple acts of kindness, respect, gratitude, and care for others, children begin to develop a strong moral compass and an awareness of shared values that guide their behaviour and relationships.
We celebrate each child as a unique individual. By recognising their strengths, interests, and backgrounds, we support their holistic development—socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually—at their own pace.
At Serene Steps, we also value the importance of community. We work in partnership with families, embracing diversity and creating a sense of belonging where every child and family feels respected and included.
